found art

i was walking around pike with a couple of friends & a tray full of cupcakes when i hear, "those eyeballs are looking at you." totally oblivious, kristin & jaime point out these fantastic wooden eyeballs hanging from the power lines. they made me laugh, so i had to stop & take a picture (well, a movie because they kept twisting in the wind, so it's a little pixelated).

lorena barrezueta - listen lady jewelry

i just love the listen lady jewelry line by lorena barrezueta, beautiful porcelain pendants & bracelets. there are five pendant styles, your choice of black with gold artwork or white with black or gold artwork; designs include the american manual alphabet, thumbs up or down, love, peace or a fist. her bracelets are also great, i used to want a big white watch, now i just want one of these. bracelets come in two lines; back to school & fancy pants. the bracelets vary in widths & designs, many featuring digital & rolodex watches.

don't forget her dish lines, gourmet collection either. they are swoon worthy.

music to listen to - rock the bells edition

yup - i'm off to another festival, rock the bells. we rented a minivan & will be packing the cooler with beers & sandwiches for the ride; this time we are heading to the gorge in george, wa - i've never been & i'm super excited. it's going to be a killer day of sun & hip-hop (this statement alone makes me wonder why marques is going, maybe he just loves us that much?)!

here's the line-up that is on my have-to-see list: a tribe called quest, nas, mos def, the pharcyde, de la soul, little brother, blue scholars, wale & amanda blank.

you can download wale's free mixtape here.

etsy wednesday

blue bell bazaar has a great selection of kitschy vintage goods at a reasonable price. my favorites - glove molds for $28; bowling pin for $28; & a needlework purse for $37.

pow

new rings from antonio murphy & astro of bape fame. can't get 'em in the states, but ebay sells everything.

my lure to all things pow are different than most - it started when my sister stumbled upon (was snooping around my room) a letter i was writing to alanis morisette in 7th grade. i believe it read something like, "dear alanis, you are so pow!" she immediately called her best friend to laugh at my expense. i never heard the end of it, from either one & now i want this ring to commemorate it. too bad it's $170 & made of plastic.

add it to the blogroll

i have no recollection as to how i found this blog, but i did. worship worthy is a female-authored daily lifestyle newsletter focused on the culture & history of new york's art, music & fashion scene. it's my latest add.

the search for a woodworker

a certain piece of inspiration from this weekend has me on a hunt. do you or anyone you know have a talent & passion for small scale woodwork? the projects would involve cutting, drilling & possible inlay work.

i would like to work out payment/partnership details once i find the skillz i need. this would be an opportunity for creative & collaborative work. if you are interested please leave a comment or shoot me an email at adeotte@gmail.com.

art at bumbershoot

aside from flatstock, there is another art exhibit i don't want to miss this year at bumbershoot either, the seattle-tehran poster show. last year they featured seattle-havana & i loved it, but this year has me even more excited. taken from the website, "co-curated with tehran designer iman raad, the seattle-tehran poster show is a selection of 50 posters from each city in a variety of mediums sharing cultural themes such as music, film, theater and contemporary art."

seattle-tehran poster show is open from 11am-8pm & in the northwest rooms of the seattle center.
