tomer hanuka

i saw a tomer hanuka reminder on design you trust. i was drawn to his work when i first saw it laying on bart's floor in the form of the above juxtapose cover. his work is gorgeous, political, disturbing & carries a fantastic, vibrant sense of color.

kimenna's gorgeous pieces have been on my wishlist for a couple of weeks now. her stuff is feminine & completely wearable. each garment is custom made; tops run from $65-$110 & dresses range from $70-$100.

what's my style?

yeah, that's me - kitsch chic. well, that's what imagini style finder tells me after choosing a series of images. i have to agree, maybe more on the kitsch than the chic. a direct quote, "your home reveals your fun-loving, whimsical side - the look is nostalgically modern and elegant with a cheeky twist."

it took only a couple minutes & contains a lot of eye candy. what is your style?

add it to the blogroll

the lil bee don't believe in shooting stars, but she believes in shoes & cars. that's what her profile header says anyway; seriously, i love this girl already. melisa writes & collects a ton of great stuff, from fashion, interiors & photography to dogs, typos & pet peeves. she's the latest addition to the blogroll.

a few mailers

one for my sister's good friend & one for work (in collaboration with a co-worker). just simple designs with warm palettes & a touch of vintage (this is a very good example of where my taste lies right now, see iso50 & liz tran).

ban.do

yum. yup, i said yum. jen gotch of the lovely polaroid blog & much more has started a line of high-end custom made headbands called ban.do with her friend jamie. seriously, these girls have incredible style & even stronger sense of color & texture.

simple, iconic, oh so capitol hill - bauhaus coffee. it's a place that you will find seattle's hippest drinking coffee or italian sodas, visiting with friends & people watching while pretending to read their books. i have the joy of biking past each work day at 5pm (bear in mind it is at the top of a 6 block hill) & wishing i could be sitting there too, staring at the sweating, 9-5er on a bike about to die.

margaret kilgallen

i still haven't seen beautiful losers. it makes me tear up just a little, but i've tried & i can't find showings in seattle, the closest one looks to be in portland. hmmm, maybe i'll hop on the train. i have read a lot of reviews, seen the trailer & read up on many of the featured artists. this is where today's post falls in.

from gallery shows to graffiti art & murals under the tag name of meta or matokie slaughter, margaret kilgallen's work was strongly influenced by american folk art & hand painted signs. she often worked with gouache & acrylic on found paper; her palettes were warm & inviting.

based out of san francisco, kilgallen died in 2001 of complications from breast cancer at an early age of 33.
