handmade days - diy night

UPDATE: the event will take place on thursday, dec. 3!

calling all seattle diy enthusiasts!along with some of my favorite people at faire gallery & cafe, i'll be hosting a diy night on thursday, dec. 3 from 7:30-10:00pm. pack up your latest project & work on it in the company of good people.

although moving to the east side of the hill means i'm there a lot less than i'd like - faire remains one of my favorite places in seattle. the space is warm, good music fills the aire, the art is fun & unexpected, & of course the food & drink are tops. no rsvp necessary, but if you want to invite friends or get it on your calendar, i've got a little something up on facebook.

i'm super excited to annouce that i'll be crossing another item of my 2009 to do list - bring in the new year! click here to download, embed or link the image to your site.

found decor - confetti system

artists & designers nicholas anderson and julie ho are working under the studio, confetti system. they have an amazing portofolio of colorful installations as well as a selection of necklaces, pinatas & blindfolds.

taken from there website, "the system is a collection of objects born from simple materials. tissue paper, cardboard, and silk are transformed into interactive objects that create a point of focus where memories can be made and a spontaneous collaboration between themselves and the viewer is sparked. confetti system occupies the space that exists between the ephemeral and the permanent and aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia and lighthearted fun."

100 layer cake

100 layer cake is a website, newsletter & blog all about crafting the perfect wedding. i was browsing graphic-exchange when these mood boards blew me away. it's an endless supply of inspiration from real life stories to color palettes, save the date ideas to dresses.

where i'll be tonight

i know, lots of posting, but it's friday. i'm heading to this opening at fancy & hoping to visit schmancy & nancy too.

i'm hoping to make the previously mentioned notepads - maybe they'll be a calendar. yeah. also finishing up ming's throw pillows (full post coming soon, think stencils & embroidery); they're going to be killa. shit, i have a mailer to do for architects without borders too - an invite to their upcoming carve for a cause event. i'm also hoping to do a tour of a less frequently traveled neighborhood (by me at least), maybe wallingford or phinney ridge.

have a lovely weekend. enjoy the sun, cross things off your to do list & surround yourself with people you love.

john waters

in honor of all things tacky & lovely - this is where i'll be tonight - john waters at benaroya hall. i grew up on hairspray, saw polyester way too young & just put desperate living on my netflix per my brother's recommendation (as an example of how tacky & horrifying it can get).

isn't this a great pic by dudley reed, found via whorange.

what i'm doing this weekend

UPDATE: this is my purchase from the show. there were a lot to choose from, but i couldn't resist this 31" x 43" print. i've been searching for something to go behind my couch since the minute i moved in. for now, here it is. there is another print (actually a huge sticker, maybe 50 x 30) i'm hoping to get my hands on soon, you can see it on 11th ave & pike.

spacecraft is selling 25 prints of 25 posters for $25! i'll be at ouch my eye by 7 tomorrow.

hills have eyes - aiga panel

i just registered for the aiga sponsored panel discussion & interview, hills have eyes at evo gallery. i can't tell you how excited i am to attend; snowboarding culture & design! i have been fantasizing about someday starting a line in the very arena & have been very inspired by the work of spacecraft (of which, stefan hofmann, will be speaking). i feel lucky to be in seattle & so close to this small but highly influential corner of the design world.
