i might try to make a dress like this beautiful silk church and state piece. what about that lace! it seems simple enough (right), but i may look for a pattern anyway.

what about this lovely thing from net-a-porter? i could swing that without a pattern. yummmm.

anyone have suggestions tips for either?

Very fun use of lace appliques on the red dress! It would be totally easy to make with a super simple shift dress pattern, just modify it by adding the elastic. Or, my personal opinion, you could make something slightly more flattering with a very similar pattern with more figure-fitting lines. It is cool to see a modern use of those lace things... my mom has a ton of unused ones left over from 15 years ago and maybe I can put them to good use!
