found fish & signage

still dottie found post pike street fish fry

the sign is bigger than the place (i'm convinced that the umbrella wasn't there before this weekend) & it makes me giggle every time i see it. pike street fish fry is located just outside neumos & has some of the yummiest fish & chips on capitol hill. i love the sign, the type on the window & their deep fried tuna.

every little counts is selling fun t's for girls, hell - for girls & boys. lost in love is my top pick, but other ones with great type include: feel like making love, let me hear your body sing, romance & forever. shirts run about $25-$35 & are silk-screened by hand. get one.

type lust

smashing magazine always points us is the right direction when it comes to fonts. today, i can't resist sharing & if i had a couple hundy to spend on type, here's how i'd do it.

buffet script by veer, $99; haptic by hanning skibbe, $55 for one style or $650 for the whole thang; parisine ptf from porchez typofonderie, $400 (roughly, it's priced in pounds).

simple, iconic, oh so capitol hill - bauhaus coffee. it's a place that you will find seattle's hippest drinking coffee or italian sodas, visiting with friends & people watching while pretending to read their books. i have the joy of biking past each work day at 5pm (bear in mind it is at the top of a 6 block hill) & wishing i could be sitting there too, staring at the sweating, 9-5er on a bike about to die.

while visiting portland i noticed that city buildings are completely littered with wonderful signage & typography. i love the combo of calligraphy & simple sans serif - i shouldn't forget to mention that yellow drop shadow either.

for some reason my places postings were too much pressure for a monday. plus - i'm not a pro behind a camera & shooting products in retail settings is really hard for me. as i try to focus more on my own design skills i figured that paying more attention to typography, texture & pattern might be nice, hell, it may even be found in a place worth mentioning.

i walk by this building in capitol hill multiple times a week, but i just recently noticed those lovely, outlined letters. from the color combo to details of the a's - i'm loving this lettering.
